Apple TV's 'Acapulco,' Andy Garcia Lead Winners and Honorees at '41st Annual Imagen Awards' Celebrating Latino Entertainment

‘Acapulco’ takes home six Imagen Awards, including Best Actor-Comedy, Supporting Actor and Actress, Director, and Music Supervision; Helen Hernandez presents Creators, Cast and AppleTV with the Creative Achievement Award

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 22, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Imagen Foundation celebrated excellence in Latino film, television and streaming, which took place Friday evening, August 21, at the 41st Annual Imagen Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. The ceremony presented 33 awards recognizing artists, performers, filmmakers, producers and storytellers advancing authentic Latino representation across the entertainment industry.

A standout of the evening was Apple TV’s Acapulco, which earned multiple awards throughout the ceremony. Oscar Almengor was named Best Director, while Eugenio Derbez received Best Supporting Actor – Comedy and Vanesa Bauche received Best Supporting Actress – Comedy. Enrique Arrizon was also among the recipients of the Best Actor – Comedy tie for his performance in the series. The Acapulco team was further honored with the Creative Achievement Award, presented to Apple TV and Acapulco by Imagen Foundation Founder and President, Helen Hernandez. The series also received the award for Best Music Supervision for Film or Television, presented to Javier Nuño and Joe Rodríguez.

The evening also recognized excellence across film and television, with Brownsville Bred receiving Best Feature Film and Dolores Fonzi receiving Best Actress for Belén. Will Trent was named Best Drama Series, while Scrubs received Best Comedy Series. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo was honored as Best Actor – Drama for The Lincoln Lawyer, and Amirah Vahn received Best Actress – Drama for Doc. Additional acting honors went to Michael Peña for All Her Fault and Arienne Mandi for Chicago P.D.

Acclaimed actor, filmmaker, producer, and musician Andy Garcia received the Imagen Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his four-decade career, groundbreaking storytelling, and longstanding commitment to Latino representation. Actor Danny Pino presented him with his award.

Following the presentation, Garcia and The CineSon All Stars took the stage for a special performance, joined by Grammy Award-winning musician and longtime Garcia collaborator Arturo Sandoval.

Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, First District, and Los Angeles County Chair Hilda L. Solis was presented with the President's Award by Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson, 13th Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The award recognizes her distinguished career in public service and her enduring commitment to advancing opportunity, equity, and representation for Latino communities.

Other winners throughout the evening included Selena y Los Dinos, which received Best Documentary; Leguizamo Does America Season 2, which won Best Variety or Reality Show; Marcello Hernández: American Boy, which received Best Special or Television Movie; and Daphne Rubin-Vega, who was recognized as Best Voice-Over Actor for Hazbin Hotel. The ceremony also honored emerging talent, with Roxy & The Man receiving Best Short Film and ¡Que Suene La Banda receiving Best Student Film.

The 41st Annual Imagen Awards brought together established and emerging Latino talent from across the entertainment industry, celebrating work that reflects the diversity of Latino experiences and the growing influence of Latino artists and storytellers in film, television, and streaming.
